Excess sludge generated from activated sludge wastewater treatment is bio-fungi, and all of it has cells. If the moisture content is adjusted and fermented, it will mature after 2~4 months and can be used as fermented fertilizer. However, if this sludge is boil-dried in an okadora dryer to destroy the cellular structure and reduce the moisture content to 50% and the volume to 1/3 or less before fermentation, it can be matured in 6 to 8 days.
In addition, when dried in a conventional hot-air dryer to 10% moisture for preservation purposes and then soaked in water, it will re-sludge, but when boiled and dried in an okadora dryer, it will not re-sludge even if soaked in water, making it ideal for fertilizer and other applications.
